Off duty fire fighters from Houston helped contain a potentially dangerous situation, after a car caught on fire at a local gas station on Sunday.
That happened at the Checkers Gas Station, off Highway 6 at FM 2 in Grimes County. The car’s front end was engulfed in flames near one of the pumps, and two off duty HFD fire fighters assisted in keeping the blaze away from the gas pumps by using fire extinguishers.
The gas pumps were shut down for numerous hours, while crews worked to clear the scene.
Navasota Fire also assisted. No information was released on how the car fire began.
