Grimes County is upping the price of On-Site Sewage Facilities permits.
Environmental Coordinator Kat Lee spoke at Wednesday’s meeting of Commissioner’s Court about the increase, and their reasoning for it.
“Current fees are $260 for residential, $460 for commercial, and $200 for a modification. The increases would make it $410 for residential, $610 for commercial, and $300 for a modification. I have data as far as other surrounding counties, and what the feelings of our installers is,” said Lee. “The consensus among our installers I have talked to is ‘that is what other counties charge.'”
Lee said the feedback on their reviews from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality always suggest charging more for those permits.
The new fees would not begin immediately however, there is some time before it is baked in.
“If we make it where they start October 1st, that gives us time to get the word out, so everyone is ready for when the new fees do start,” said Lee.
Commissioner’s approved the OSSF Permit cost increases.
The changes will not take effect until October 1st.
