Fixes are ongoing at the Grimes County Justice Center following the water leak on Christmas.
“We have gotten our moisture report, and we are dry…on the basis of that, we were able to have the adjustor come back, and finalize damage. Once we knew what damage was done, then we could start getting things lined up for repairs,” said Fauth. “Unfortunately, we are having to take up the flooring in the damaged areas. So, the new carpet that was just added, that is all coming up.”
That was County Judge Joe Fauth speaking on our station earlier today, who added it would be cheaper to replace the carpet in the long run, rather than cleaning it, and reapplying to the floor.
As for the repair timeline…
“Two months, no more than three months. I am hoping by the first of March, no one will ever know that anything ever happened out at the Justice Center,” Fauth said.
To note as well, some County Offices in the Justice Center have moved, but are still fully operational. More information can be found on the Grimes County website.
