For all you rodeo enthusiasts, it is back: Grimes County’s Go Texan Weekend returns starting this Friday!
“They have a record 84 teams. They have never had anymore than 72, I believe, so, it will be quite a party going on out at the fairgrounds,” said Navasota Mayor Bert Miller at Monday’s City Council meeting. “Get out there, eat some brisket…there will be plenty of it, so get out and enjoy it. There will be live entertainment, stuff for the kids…lot of stuff going on.”
As you he mentioned, a record number of teams will compete this year, with the goal of benefiting the youth of Grimes County, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
All gets kicked off Friday night at the Fairgrounds with the sponsor dinner, raffle and auction.
Alongside that, there will be the usual cook-off with plenty of food. Judging beyond just the BBQ also includes Pinto Beans, Bloody Mary’s and Chili, which will take place on Saturday.
Cook-off judging will happen Sunday, along with award presentations.
Gate admission is $10, and free for children under 5 years old.
