MidSouth Synergy is embarking on a huge project to bring more people in Grimes County faster, reliable internet.
Speaking at the most recent Commissioner Court meeting, Road and Bridge Engineer Harry Walker laid out the plans, and presented updates to their construction permits.
“The overall project involved over 273 miles of fiber optic installation. It will be primarily in Grimes County, with a little b it in Madison and Montgomery County. It is an extensive project, they are practically going down every single road in the county with underground fiber. Minus those areas where they have already completed the overhead fiber installations,” said Walker.
He says MidSouth made a deal with Entergy Texas for installing the lines in their operating territory, which will lead to other permits needing to be amended.
But, at the end of the day, the project is a win for the area.
“I think everyone in the county will benefit, and the fiber they have installed already have been well received by the public. This will expand those opportunities to the rest of the county,” Walker said.
He said the amendment approved at that meting covers an area near Todd Mission, Plantersville and Dobbin, and will update the other permits at future meetings.
