After a lengthy debate at a recent Commissioner meeting over Volunteer Fire District Boundaries along State Highway 249, the court has come to a decision.
The Todd Mission VFD has been approved to respond to the calls along the new highway, while the Plantersville-Stoneham VFD will respond to all calls within the Plantersville City Limits.
Debates over response times from each went on for about an hour at the March 1st meeting, and the March 15th meeting was met with Commissioners David Tullos, and Phillip Cox feeling that the decision was being forced upon the court.
County Judge Joe Fauth gave one argument in favor of Todd Mission responding along 249, saying their 32 trained staff outweigh the 10 total at the PSVFD.
Todd Mission Chief Cassandra Malone added that they have state trained technicians.
PSVFD Chief Jessica Bomar noted her departments extensive hands-on experience responding to major accidents on SH 105 and FM 1774.
Commissioner’s approved the Todd Mission VFD as the primary response unit to calls along SH 249.
