Five finalists to be Texas A&M’s next provost, which is the university’s chief academic officer, have completed meeting with faculty members and holding virtual gatherings. the search was limited to candidates who currently work at an A&M system school. One of the five does not work at the flagship. Amy Andersen is Associate Provost at West Texas A&M. The other finalists are the current interim provost, Alan Sams, former Mays Business School Dean Eli Jones, director of distance education & geography professor Andrew Klein, and endowed chair in mechanical engineering Andreas Polycarpou.
A&M’s President announced two weeks ago that nationwide searches for three deans will begin this fall. Those interested in serving on search committees will submit their requests in August. A&M is looking for deans of the school of performance, visualization, and fine arts, the college of arts and sciences, and the school of architecture. And A&M has announced a new dean at the school of nursing. Trisha Leann Horsley starts July first after serving in a similar role at East Tennessee State.
