On June 16th the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit was requested to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s O.L. Luther Unit just outside of Navasota to assist with a “free air sniff” on an unauthorized vehicle on TDCJ property.
The occupants of the vehicle were apparently stopped on the property so they could fly a drone.
When officers arrived, probable cause to search the vehicle was established, and K9 Hank was deployed and alerted officers to several THC vapes with an aggregate weight of 81.805 grams.
Both the male driver and female passenger were taken into custody and transported the Grimes County Jail without incident.
Upon arrival at the jail, 13 pills that the defendant attempted to discard, tested positive for methamphetamine with a weight of 2.039 grams.
