The speculation of Starbucks coming to town has sparked debate in the community since 2022, when it was first mentioned in a Planning & Zoning Commission meeting by a Ram Development Project Manager regarding properties on State Hwy 105 East near Hwy 6 in Navasota.
Since that time, a Chicken Express and Jack in The Box have been built on 2 of the 3 spaces, leaving a vacant space in between. At a meeting of the City of Navasota’s Zoning Board of Adjustment on August 2nd, consideration and possible action on Order Number 3-2023 approving a zoning variance application submitted to the city by Vaquero Navasota Partners, LP for the property located along State Hwy 105 East was on the agenda.
City of Navasota Development Services Director, Lupe Diosdado, explains.
Alex Lengyel of Vaquero Navasota LLP spoke to the board, and board member Taylor Perry noted that the plat map said, “Starbucks”.
When asked about extra spaces and reasons for needing the variance, Lengyel explained.
The board unanimously approved the variance and now the site plans and plats will be made and presented to the City of Navasota Planning & Zoning Commission for further consideration in a future meeting.
