According to a press release from the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office,
On Dec 30th, 2023 at 5:17pm, a Grimes County Deputy was South of Bedias and observed an older model silver minivan fail to yield to traffic on State Highway 90.
The deputy tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the minivan pulled into a private driveway and the driver quickly exited the vehicle.
The driver was visually identified as Ronnie Dewain Zephyn. Zephyn gave the Deputy consent to search the vehicle, and the deputy recovered a white crystalized substance on the driver’s seat that later tested positive for methamphetamine. Also recovered from the vehicle were two digital scales and multiple baggies.
The deputy then noticed a clear bag containing a substantial amount of the same white crystalized powder near Zephyn’s vehicle. The deputy reviewed his dash camera footage and observed Zephyn toss the clear bag out of his window.
The amount of methamphetamine resulted in 16.42 grams. Zephyn was charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence w/Intent to Impair, Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1 (4G-200G), and Class C offenses
