Press Release from Navasota Police Department:
“On January 22, 2024, around 11:00 PM, Navasota Police Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of West Washington Avenue
for a possible robbery in progress with shots fired. Officers arrived quickly and were
approached by a business employee and customer outside the business stating a male
subject was armed with a firearm in the store. Officers approached the business and
observed the male subject to be still in the store, and he was quickly taken into custody.
Officers took possession of the male suspect’s firearm, and it was determined to be
stolen out of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.
Inside the store officers found several broken doors and merchandise had been thrown
around the business, causing several thousands of dollars of damage.
The male suspect was identified as Juan Luis Olivares (17) of Navasota. Navasota
Police Investigators arrived on scene and charged Mr. Olivares with two counts of
aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, and criminal
mischief of more than $2,500 but less than $30,000.
Neither the business employee nor any customers were injured.”
