According to a press release from the Grimes County District Attorney’s Office:
“On Friday, July 12, 2024, Gage Anthony Stringo, age, 31, pled guilty to Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
On November 5, 2023, Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputy Victoria Gochnour encountered Gage Stringo on a bicycle in Todd Mission, located in southern Grimes County. During the police contact, Stringo told Deputy Gochnour he lived on Bentley Court in Todd Mission. Deputy Gochnour verified Stringo was not registered as a sex offender with the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently arrested Stringo for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender. Under Texas law, sex offenders are required to report their place of residence to local law enforcement not later than the seventh day after their arrival.
DA Chief Investigator John Wren conducted a follow-up investigation by interviewing residents on Bentley Court, who verified Stringo had been living there for several years. Chief Wren learned Stringo had last registered with the Magnolia Police Department in April 2020. A review of Stringo’s criminal record revealed he was sentenced to prison for 4 years out of Montgomery County for Indecency with a Child. This conviction requires Gage Stringo to register as a sex offender in Texas for the remainder of his life. Stringo was also previously convicted of Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Requirements.
Gage Stringo pled guilty before 12th District Judge David Moorman. Stringo was sentenced to 10 years in prison based on a plea agreement made by Assistant DA Meagan Callaham.
Stringo is currently in the custody of the Grimes County Jail.”
“Our office is tough on sex offenders who Fail to Register or Fail to Comply with sex offender requirements. Over the past 25 years, we have seen multiple cases where sex offenders committed new sex offenses and created new victims while out of compliance or unregistered in Grimes County. Only prison time is offered on these cases (no probation) by our prosecutors because we consider this a matter of public safety.” –District Attorney Andria Bender
