Among the Agenda items at Monday’s Navasota City Council Meeting was to hold a public hearing and consider and take possible action regarding the rezoning application for 1539 E. Washington Avenue for retail sales use for a proposed AutoZone.
During the public hearing, property owner, Sally Matthews, spoke on her and AutoZone’s behalf, since a representative was not present due to the unanimous denial from Navasota’s Planning & Zoning Commission to rezone the property.
Several other residents spoke, with the majority opposed to the rezoning for commercial use, citing “commercial creep.”
Before making the motion to deny the rezoning application, Councilman Josh Fultz, had this to say.
The motion was seconded by Councilman Kenneth Stevens, and unanimously denied by Council. To see this or any City meeting in their entirety, click https://www.youtube.com/@NavasotaTX
