According to a press release from the Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, “On Monday October 14th, 2024, at approximately 12:53 p.m., Grimes County Deputies were dispatched to an address off of Pinebrook Drive in Plantersville in regard to a male subject who had been shot in the back with a pellet gun.
The victim was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare by emergency medical services for treatment. During the course of the investigation, a suspect was identified as Derek Smith. He was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
No further details can be released at this time as the case is under investigation.
