Some good news in the latest Grimes County COVID-19 updates, as active cases continue to drop and recoveries rise.
According to the news release on Monday night, the county added just 9 new cases in the weekly update, bringing the cumulative total to 508 cases since March.
Active cases fell significantly, as the number active went from 234 last week, to just 88 this week for the whole county. Of those, 59 active cases are in Navasota. Recoveries also saw a jump, as the total sits at 404, which is an increase of 49 from last week.
The number of deaths in the county is still at 10, which is a running total dating to March.
5,026 tests have been performed in the county.
The latest Texas Department of Criminal Justice dashboard numbers sees an increase in cases at the Pack Unit. Currently there are 17 active cases, 14 of them inmates and 3 employees, which is up 10 total from last week.
Out at the Luther Unit, there are 15 active cases, down 2 from last week, with 5 being offenders and 10 of them employees.
