After closing due to high water levels, Lake Conroe reopen to normal lake traffic

May 4, 2021 by Willy1550

Lake Conroe is once again open to normal lake traffic and activities.

That is according to the Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Citizen’s were allowed to start hitting the water again at noon on Monday.

They ask boaters to exercise caution, as there might be debris and other submerged objects not fully visible. Lake area residents are also asked to be cautious of electrical outlets and equipment contacting the water.

Lake activities were closed last week, following heaving rains increasing lake water levels to unsafe heights. The San Jacinto River Authority is currently releasing water from the lake Conroe Dam, to gradually lower the water level back to 201 feet. The agency says they are discharging 9,120 cubic feet of water per second from the dam.
