After three major fires in Grimes County in 10 days, officials again plead to not burn

July 28, 2022 by Andre Perrard

It might sound like there’s an echo, but Grimes County officials again strongly encourage citizen’s dispose of any burn piles without burning them.

“I just want to reiterate, any type of burning with the burn ban…it will be a violation, and citation up to $500,” said County Judge Joe Fauth at Wednesday’s meeting of Commissioner’s Court. “Make your own decisions, but I hope your decision is to use our solid waste locations, or do not burn until we have released the burn ban.”

Two of them were allegedly started by persons illegally burning during the ban.

In total, combined between the three fires, nearly 200 acres was torched.
