An Anderson man and his friend are in jail on DWI charges after allegedly running from the scene of an accident between themselves this weekend.
The DPS arrest report says they responded to the scene on Highway 30 Saturday night, just east of William D. Fitch. A witness said a man in a black pick up loaded up the motorcycle involved in the crash, and took off.
Police eventually stopped 33 year old driver Gerrit John Warnshuis of Anderson. Alongside him as a passenger was 27 year old Richard Aaron McCombs of Bryan.
Both showed signs of intoxication, and McCombs admitted to crashing the motorcycle into some rocks.Found inside the truck were two firearms. Both took ownership of each one.
Warnshuis faces a DWI with a BAC greater than 0.15 charge, and a charge of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. McCombs faces the same charges, with a previous DWI conviction by the US Army in 2017.
Both remain in jail on bonds which total $9,000.
