Nearly 300 animals were seized from deplorable conditions August 15th in Grimes County. An anonymous tip led investigators to a house off highway 30 in Carlos yesterday where they discovered the animals living in horrific conditions. Grimes County Sheriffs Office investigator Kendale Pittman described it as the worst case of cruelty he has seen in his law enforcement career.
“It’s bad, that is the best way I can describe it. It is really bad,” Pittman said.
Authorities said the animals were malnourished and in bad shape overall. Investigators also found dead animal carcasses on the property as well as bones. In total, 242 dogs and 49 miniature horses were seized and taken to the Houston Humane Society. The investigation continues and the individual residing there has not yet been charged or arrested. Many have wondered why the individual has not been charged. Pittman says it just takes some time to formulate a case.
“Anytime you investigate any case, you want to present the best case you can to prosecutors…that way, all your ‘I’s’ are dotted and your ‘T’s’ are crossed. And that way, you can win the case in the courtroom.”
We will update you on this case as we get anymore information.
