With Valentines Day less than a week away now, a familiar Plantersville youth is once again looking for your help in giving the county’s senior residents a gift to literally hold on to.
For almost a decade, 17-year-old Jodylynn Marrs has been the mastermind behind her very own teddy bear drive, and she assures Navasota News the response is always worth the effort.
Marrs says when you give a teddy bear to senior citizens, they are overcome with emotion, some smile, some laugh and a few even cry.
And during her almost-decade-long labor of love, Marrs reports seeing her local vision expand into neighboring Montgomery County as well.
Giving stuffed animals started out personal, she explains, and since the recent passing of a dear family member and progenitor of the cause, it’s becoming even more so.
The Teddy Bear Drive is accepting new to gently used stuffed animals at the Grimes County Ag Extension Office through Monday. For more information, call 936-894-1819.
