Argument at hotel leads to vehicle crash into a tree and the arrest of a Navasota man on numerous charges

November 29, 2021 by Andre Perrard

An argument at a hotel between a couple ends with the arrest of a Navasota man after he crashed them into a tree.

The Bryan PD arrest report states that they got the call to the Days Inn on Highway 6 for a woman and man yelling at one another. Police were told by the hotel manager that he wished them to be removed from the property.

Officers eventually entered the room, where they found a woman, 23 year old Ashley Kay Nacol, hiding in a corner. The report states she was uncooperative, and said her boyfriend had left.

The man was identified by hotel management as 29 year old Roderick Deon Jones of Navasota. While waiting outside in their patrol car, officers witnessed Jones’ car drive by, and make turns at a high rate of speed. Eventually, officers saw the car hit a tree on Briargate Drive.

Jones failed field sobriety tests, and also admitted to having smoked marijuana earlier that evening. Found inside the car was a vape pen cartridge with THC oil inside.

Nacol was taken to the hospital with a dislocated ankle. Jones was arrested, and charged with Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle, plus Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 2. Jones also had four warrants out of Brazos County.

It is Jones’ third time arrest in this year, and he was released the same day after posting a $23,000 bond.
