College Station police made an arrest in a Friday morning burglary and sexual assault less than 12 hours after it was reported.
A man living in the same apartment complex as the victim, 25 year old Cody Ryan Smith, was taken into custody without incident.
Lt. Chuck Fleeger says the woman went to the police department just before 5 a.m. Friday to make the report.
The 18 year old victim said she had been asleep when she answered a knock at her front door as thinking it was a friend of hers.
Upon opening the door, the suspect forced his way inside the residence and began to physically assault the victim.
During the course of this physical assault the suspect also sexually assaulted the victim before leaving the residence.
Fleeger says the victim was able to provide detectives with a name of the suspect who was a resident of the same apartment complex.
Burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit sexual assault is a first degree felony.
