A Burton man accused of beating up his girlfriend after she took too much time to get him when he ran out of gas on the Texas A&M campus has been found. University police had been looking for 39 year old Chad Smith since the June 20th incident in the parking lot of the poultry science headquarters off Harvey Mitchell Parkway. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. UPD delivered Smith his arrest warrant in the Brazos County jail. That’s after Smith was arrested by College Station police after he was caught shoplifting a cell phone and a can of deodorant spray from Wal-Mart then giving his brother’s name. Smith was also issued arrest warrants on driving with an invalid license three times in March.
There’s been one arrest involving fake checks from a Bryan business and another is possible. A bank teller caught what the Bryan police arrest report indicated was a fabricated check for $956 dollars, which the customer told the officer was mailed to her by the father of her child for child support. Officers contacted the business, who confirmed they never heard of the father. That led to the arrest of 19 year old Lajustice Moore of Bryan for forgery. The bank manager gave officers several more forged checks and identified a second suspect.
In an unrelated case, a Somerville man who according to the Brazos County sheriff’s office has 21 driving suspensions was pulled over Thursday on Harvey Mitchell Parkway near Raymond Stotzer. That’s after the deputy spotted the car’s registration expired last January. 27 year old Rickey Moore remained in jail Friday after his arrest for driving with an invalid license with a prior conviction.
