Arson charges leveled against Navasota man who burnt down Millican trailer

December 15, 2021 by Willy1550

A Navasota man is in jail for the 21st time since 1998, facing charges of arson.

The Brazos County Sheriff’s Office arrest report states that officers responded around 7 pm to the disturbance on Rocky Circle, where 42 year old Miguel Muniz Junior refused to leave the home. Officers saw smoke coming from the building, and Muniz said he was just burning some paper.

The report states that Muniz stated he wanted to have a bonfire with the trailer, and the officer advised him of looking into a permit to do so.

About 3 hours later, units were called back to the trailer, and saw it engulfed in flames. The owners, Miguel Muniz Senior and Josefina Muniz, said that Muniz Junior ran outside yelling someone was trying to kill him.

Muniz denied officers requests to be detained, and barricaded himself in the house, attempting to escape at one point through a broken window.

Ultimately, Muniz was arrested. He faces an Arson charge, plus charges of Criminal Mischief, and Evading Arrest with Previous Conviction.
