The College Station city council Thursday night received recommendations about how to address more traffic from an expanded Kyle Field.
Tim Lomax of the Texas Transportation Institute says the concentration of people leaving Kyle Field is higher than any downtown area in Texas except for Austin, Dallas, and Houston…and those cities have more freeways.
Lomax says after games, fans waiting to be picked up at the west campus garage will be relocated in an effort to get more vehicles out of the garage.
Council members responded with suggestions of their own. Karl Mooney asked Tim Lomax with the Texas Transportation Institute about stopping trains along Wellborn Road. Lomax says that will continue, even though Texas A&M has an agreement with the railroad to stop trains.
Lomax says Texas A&M Transportation Services will add 10 charter buses to its shuttle fleet, after games green lights will be longer for outbound traffic, and southbound Wellborn Road will be four lanes from George Bush after games.
