The results are in, and because none of the four candidates for now-State Senator Lois Kolkhorst’s former House District 13 seat received a majority, we will need a run off to determine who’ll represent the County of Grimes in Austin.
Grimes county voters agreed with others in the district on the two republicans who will now duke it out, with Carolyn Cerny Bilski coming in first with nearly 38 percent of the local vote, Leighton Schubert being the second most popular, capturing nearly a quarter.
And as Grimes County’s Election Administrator Rebecca Duff tells Navasota News, the only democrat in the mix was third-most popular with Grimes County voters, capturing 22 percent of the local vote.
Duff says this special election cost our county around $25,000 and the run off will probably add another $10,000 on the county’s tab.
The local canvas take’s place Friday morning at 9 in the Grimes County Courthouse jury room. And when Governor Abbott decides when the run-off will be held, we’ll let you know about it, right here on Navasota News.
