Officers observing a car sitting idle in a hotel parking lot ends with the arrest of a Bedias man on gun and drug charges.
The Bryan Police arrest report says the officer was observing the idle car around 3 am at the University Inn. As he approached, the car then tried backing out of the parking lot, where he was told to park the vehicle again.
Upon rolling down the window, a large amount of smoke emitted, and officers asked the driver is he had any more marijuana. He said all he had left was what he smoked, and handed officers a burnt cigarillo. He then said, “I also have this,” and handed the officers a fully loaded .380 Smith and Wesson handgun. Inside a foil ball, officers found more marijuana.
Officers talked with the man’s girlfriend, who was in the hotel room near the car, and said she told him to go smoke in the car.
19 year old Courtavion Lamarque Scott of Bedias was arrested, and charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Possession of Marijuana. He remains in jail on bonds totaling $8,000.
