Grimes County’s GOP Party Chair had reason to smile the day after the May 22nd Special Election to fill the House District 13 seat through the end of the year, as she announced the winner as former Grimes County Judge Ben Leman to the Commissioners Court.
Susan Patrick went on to report the voting specifics to the commissioners. The final tally shows Leman receiving 8062 votes to Jill Wolfskill’s 6000. Here in Grimes, she continued, Leman received 66.7% of the vote.
As Patrick predicted, a scheduled run-off election between Leman and Wolfskill turned out to be unnecessary, after she made a formal concession on her Facebook page the day after the vote, followed by sending a signed, notarized withdrawal to the Secretary of State.
Patrick officially canvassed the election results at 7:30 Thursday morning, May 31st, before hitting the road to be in Austin to witness Leman’s official swearing in at 11.
Patrick says it’s wonderful to have someone you know heading to the State Capital.
