“The legendary Big Boy Steam Locomotive, one of the largest and most powerful steam engines ever built, will be making not one, but two exciting stops in Navasota this October as part of its much-anticipated “Heartland of America Tour.”
Tour Dates and Times:
• First Stop: Friday, October 4, 2024; 11:00 A.M. – 11:30 A.M.
• Second Stop: Monday, October 7, 2024; 1:30 P.M. – 2:00 P.M.
The Big Boy Steam Locomotive, known for its massive size and engineering marvel, was originally built in the 1940s to haul heavy freight across the mountainous regions of the western United States. After being retired in 1961, this incredible piece of American rail history has been meticulously restored to its former glory by Union Pacific, offering a rare glimpse into the past for modern-day audiences.
