Brenham man hits Texas A&M student with vehicle

March 12, 2019 by Andre Perrard

A Brenham man has been arrested after his vehicle struck a student on the Texas A&M campus.

The incident happened at the intersection of Spence and Ross streets on the campus. Texas A&M University Police say the man drove onto a sidewalk when trying to avoid a parking gate. Authorities say he was trying to enter the gated area by driving quickly behind another driver who had access. Upon realizing he would not make the gate in time, the driver swerved onto the sidewalk to avoid damaging his vehicle.

The driver did not realize there was a pedestrian on the sidewalk and hit the female student.

The driver was identified as 67 year old Tass White. He was arrested and charged with reckless driving. University police said the student that was struck was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
