Broken tail light lands two Navasota women in jail on marijuana possession charges

November 11, 2021 by Andre Perrard

Two Navasota women were arrested on drug charges Tuesday night after being stopped for a broken tail light.

The officer stopped the older model Chevy pick up on Wellborn Road just after midnight for the violation. The driver initially denied there being anything illegal in the vehicle, then admitted to marijuana being inside her backpack. Inside, they found marijuana, digital scale, marijuana grinder, glass marijuana pipe, and numerous burnt marijuana joints.

Another backpack in the back seat was determined to belong to the passenger. Inside there, officers found a Swisher Sweets package with marijuana.

Both were arrested, and identified as 35 year old Valerie Garcia, and 26 year old Jessica Vigil, both from Navasota.

Each was charged with Possession of Marijuana, and released after posting bond. Vigil was also charge with the same crime in 2019.
