Brule Elementary Gets Clean Slate

September 10, 2015 by Willy1550

It’s a good thing the Navasota ISD changed Navasota Intermediate to Brule Elementary, according to the Texas Education Agency the intermediate was rated as improvement needed 4 times in a row as of the latest ratings.

But, TEA’s Detta Culbertson tells Navasota News, because of the massive changes both the district and school just underwent, the TEA will give the new elementary a fresh start.

Had the district not undergone the changes, Culbertson explains, the former intermediate could have seen sanctions from the agency, in the form of state monitors, programs or even a total shutdown of the school.

But with the restart, she continues, the t-e-a will be watching.

As parent herself, Culbertson says she feels the district looks like it is taking the ratings seriously and is working to address its problems. And she hopes parents will get in tune with the schools and find out how these changes will affect their kids.

And we at Navasota News will keep an eye on the TEA as it’s keeping its eye on the district, and let you know what happens next.
