Bryan City Council Approves Park Additions and Repairs

August 12, 2014 by Archive

A unanimous Bryan city council agrees to pursue park repairs and additions.

That’s after one speaker during last week’s council special meeting, Larry Gilbert, asked for several items after he said he got nowhere with the Parks and Recreation board.

Gilbert’s requests were also sought by councilmen Rafael Pena and Al Saenz.

Their request to fix the pool at Sadie Thomas Park was expanded to repair all four city pools by Mayor Jason Bienski.

The council’s vote to add 18 parking spaces at Scurry Park was subject to getting neighborhood approval. That’s after Bienski said neighbors contacted him with concerns.

And a walking trail will be built parallel to Harlem Lane from Martin Luther King to 17th if neighbors approve and property owners donate the land.
