Bryan man convicted of previous family violence assault in Grimes County faces same charge again

July 11, 2022 by Andre Perrard

A Bryan man convicted of assaulting a family member in Grimes County previously is in jail again after assaulting his wife.

That happened on Deer Crossing Drive, near Lake Bryan, on Saturday night. Brazos County Sheriff’s responded to the residence for the disturbance, where a child at the scene said her “father was beating her mother.”

After managing to separate the parties, the woman stated the two got into an argument when 50 year old Cristobal Alex Arita came home intoxicated, and was upset the woman had not prepared food for him. The woman said the two yelled at one another, when he hit her with closed fists, according to the arrest report.

Officers observed injuries she described. Arita was convicted of Assault Family Violence after a similar occurrence in Navasota the early 2000s.

Arita was taken to jail, where he faces charges of Assaulting a Family Member with Previous Convictions. He remains jailed on bonds totaling $8,000.
