Bryan man with felony warrant from Grimes County arrested after waiving handgun out car window

A Bryan man with a felony warrant our of Grimes County is in jail facing more charges after allegedly driving down Highway 21 while waiving his weapon out the window.

Bryan PD’s arrest report says they stopped 19 year old Edwin Guzman Cruz, who initially identified himself has his own younger brother.

A search of the vehicle yielded a Taurus 9mm semi-auto pistol with an extended magazine. Cruz said he was only waiving it so people could see it, but did not point it at anyone. When asked as well why he gave a fake name, Cruz said it was because he was high on narcotics.

Cruz denied ownership of the gun, but was nevertheless arrested on new charges of Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, and Giving False or Fictitious Information. In addition to his Evading Arrest warrant out of Grimes County, Cruz also had 3 active warrants out of Brazos County for drug possession, unlawful weapon carrying, and theft of a firearm

Cruz remains in jail on bonds which total $123,000.
