Bryan voters this November will not be given the choice to keep the municipal golf course or turn it into a superpark.
Mayor Jason Bienski says the idea of a non-binding referendum has been dropped.
That’s after a special meeting scheduled Friday morning to consider first round approval for the referendum ballot was cancelled after not enough council members would be present.

Bienski also tells WTAW News he will not be asking the council to approve a contract with the Phillips Event Center for golf. Bienski says that’s because “Bryan golfers didn’t support that option.”
The mayor also says “Bryan golfers are welcome to take advantage of any deals that Mr. Phillips offers now or in the future.” And he says discussion may continue about the city opening a senior center at the event center.
Bienski says the superpark will be discussed at the council’s next regular meeting on the 26th.
