It’s been one of the driest Octobers in memory in the County of Grimes, so the county commissioners once again re-instituted the burn ban during last Tuesday’s court session.
First, Precinct 3’s Barbara Walker relayed a request to the court from the White Hall Volunteer Fire Department’s Chief to bring back the ban, adding that others had made the same request.
Leman responded that not only had he become aware of the drying situation beforehand, but had been further convinced by the county’s emergency management coordinator David Lilly.
And that may be just a couple of weeks away. The forecaster says we have much more seasonal weather on-tap, and with that, the possibility of some much needed rain. And if it turns out to be significant enough, the court could lift the ban as soon as its next regular session, Wednesday, November 9th, the day after the election.
