Burn Ban put in place again for Grimes County

October 5, 2022 by Willy1550

A Burn Ban is once again in effect for Grimes County.

County Judge Joe Fauth and Emergency Management Coordinator David Lilly discussed it at Wednesday’s meeting of Commissioner’s Court.

“Mr. Lilly has surveyed the eight chiefs of our Volunteer Fire Departments, and I think all of them said ‘yes’ to a burn ban,” said Fauth.

“Nearly unanimous, one of the eight said he could go either way. But, the other seven said yes, it is time,” said Lilly.

“We do not have rain in the forecast until next Thursday or Friday of next week,” said Fauth. “I know it is always an aggravation when we put one in place, but i is for the safety of our citizen’s.

The ban will remain in place for 90 days, or until the Commissioner’s move to remove it.
