In less than two months, Grimes County residents will again be asked for their vote, as, along with positions on both the Navasota and Iola School Boards, long-time Navasota Mayor Pro-tem Peter Canney is being challenged for his City Council Position 3 by Navasota resident Josh Fultz.
While admitting that Canney has done an excellent job during his time of service to council, Fultz tells Navasota News he believes his experience on many city boards would make him a good fit as Canney’s successor.
For his part, Canney says he’s proud to be part of a team that has successfully dealt with many of our growing city’s issues for nearly a decade now, and wants to continue in that same spirit.
If granted another term, he tells Navasota News one of the issues he is looking forward to tackling next is one the city has been suffering from since the price of oil dropped; making Navasota less reliant on that one particular industry.
The City and School Board Elections are on Saturday, May 7th. We’ll have more information for you as Election Day nears.
