A Montgomery man is dead after a boat on lake Conroe capsized late Saturday, according to authorities in Montgomery County.
They say that incident happened around 8 pm near Regency Point. The 90 minute planned cruise, which had 53 people aboard, was approximately 40 minutes into its voyage when it capsized in a strong thunderstorm.
Residents nearby who witnessed the incident helped pull passengers from the water while emergency crews responded.
Authorities said 80 year old Karl Kazenberg of Montgomery was taken to a hospital, where he died later that evening.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, Fire and Rescue, EMS, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
