Even though the Fourth of July is on a Tuesday this year, the City of Navasota’s annual Independence Day Celebration will go on as in years past.
The city’s Casey Ellis says the parade steps-off at 10 at Prosperity Bank, traveling east down Washington Avenue to the Navasota Center. Anyone young or old who wants to be in the parade will again be welcome to do so, just so long as you get to the Prosperity Bank parking lot early enough to line up.
And everyone else is urged to get to town early as well, to ensure a good parking place and viewing spot along Washington Ave.
Once the parade gets to the Navasota Center, Ellis tells Navasota News, the celebration will really get rolling.
Besides a rock wall and various inflatables, she says the city’s pool will be open until 2 for free, so don’t forget your swim suit and a towel. Also don’t forget to bring your appetite for all the free food in the form of hot dogs and snowcones, courtesy of the Navasota Noon Lions.
And because Navasota’s July 4th fun starts with a parade at 10, Ellis says to be sure to get to town early, whether you want to be in the parade or just find a good spot from which to watch it go by. Then be sure to join your neighbors for an afternoon of fun at the Navasota Center.
