A lot of Grimes County residents are angry at Centerpoint energy’s proposed plans for a transmission line connecting Gibbons Creek in northern Grimes to Harris County.
During last week’s public meeting at the Expo Center, potential Houston escapee Sharon Lea complained she wants to move to Grimes, but doesn’t think can now, as the proposed line runs all around her property.
And while a majority seemed in opposition, Centerpoint’s Floyd LeBlanc told Navasota News, even if they follow existing lines, they’ll still need more land.
Reflecting the views of many, land owner Dennis Hughes, said he feels like the County won’t get anything from the project.
County judge-elect Ben Leman concluded there needs to be improvement in long-term planning, so counties like ours won’t be affected like this in the future.
And Precinct 3 Commissioner Barbra Walker continues to insist “no build” is still an option. We’ll let you know more, as this story continues to unfold, right here on Navasota News.
