Chamber Starts Second Century

March 11, 2017 by Willy1550

The Navasota Grimes County Chamber of commerce started-off it’s second century of operations with a bang, packing-out beautiful Camp Allen’s Banquet Hall to celebrate its 101st Annual Chamber Tanquet in True Texas Fashion.

Chamber Ambassador Yolanda Fultz was named Ambassador of the Year, while Chamber Member of the Year honors went to Mike Hopkins Distributing.

The Employee of the Year, Maggie Riko Lyra, was introduced by her boss at Navasota’s Compass Bank, Eula Hendricks.

This year’s Community Service Award-winner, Connie Clements, was announced by her boss, Navasota Examiner Publisher Tony Farkas.

Citizen of the Year honors were conveyed to Navasota Mayor Pro Tem Grant Holt by Navasota Mayor Bert Miller.

And in honor of its first century, the chamber presented it’s first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award to someone who’s made a very large footprint on both Navasota and Grimes County since he came here back in 1950, planning on only staying a year . . . Dr. John C. Webb.
