A Madison County man has been arrested in connection to the death of an eight week old baby in February.
According to authorities, 46 year old Johnny Ray Gafford is being charged with first degree murder and child endangerment. The Sheriff’s Office says that Gafford had been using Methamphetamine for several days in the presence of the infant.
The baby was found unresponsive on February 8th, when deputies responded to a house in Midway. Medical examination determined there was methamphetamine found in the child’s system.
The baby’s mother, who was not identified, was not at the residence, and is not a suspect at this time.
The case is being handed to the Madison County District Attorney’s Office.
