CHI St. Joseph extends ambulance service for The Med to Iola, Keith

February 27, 2020 by Willy1550

CHI St. Joseph’s Ambulance coverage area is extending into the northwest reached of Grimes County. At Wednesday’s meeting of Commissioner’s Court, Commissioner Barbara Walker gave an update on the plan that her and Commissioner Chad Mallet worked through together.

“The coverage area around King Oaks, Iola, and Keith areas will now have coverage coming from The Med in College Station, as far as ambulance services. Which, will help free up and cut down on the response times for the other four ambulances we have in Grimes County,” Walker said.

Walker also mentioned no ambulances will have to be moved or rearranged. County Judge Joe Fauth pointed out that this will be the fifth ambulance service for the county.

He also mentioned that this addition has a broader reach than just the northwest portion of the county.

“This is actually going to benefit every citizen, because that will be taken from the North side, whereas previously, you may have been puling out of Anderson or elsewhere, and depleting this area or even south,” Fauth said. “So, all citizen’s will benefit.”

The Commissioners said that the new service should not affect dispatch, as they have been notified already of the changes.
