CHI St. Joseph partners with Texas A&M to help rural areas receive better healthcare coverage

January 30, 2019 by Willy1550

A new partnership between the Texas A&M Health Science Center and CHI St. Joseph hopes to fill gaps in patient access to healthcare in rural areas while also developing a pipeline of qualified Family Nurse Practitioners.

More than half of the graduates from the College of Nursing’s current FNP program have secured positions in rural, underserved areas aross Texas, which includes counties like Grimes.

CHI says the goal of this program is to both expand the state wide impact of the program and give students the on-hand experience they need while also serving rural Texas. CHI will place 10-20 second year FNP students across 10-12 rural clinic sites, which includes the new CHI St Joseph in Navasota.
