CHI St. Joseph receives $8.6 million grant from DSHS to increase laboratory services and capacity

November 17, 2020 by Andre Perrard

CHI St. Joseph Health has received a large grant from the Department of State Health Services for increased COVID-19 testing.

According to a release from CHI on Tuesday, DSHS has awarded CHI an $8.6 million dollar grant, which will allow them to hire additional laboratory staff, and purchase equipment specific to COVID-19 and flu testing. That new equipment for the COVID testing is the most accurate method for COVID testing, according to the release.

The new equipment jumps the testing capacity for CHI to 3,000 per day, should that need arise. CHI also mentioned they are looking to hire 30 additional medical technologists and other staff to assist with the testing.

Test results will also be available much more quickly with the new equipment, cutting time to 24 to 48 hours, rather than the previous 3 to 5 days.

More information on jobs with them is online through this link.
