Citizen’s of Grimes County complying with burn ban better than recent years

September 14, 2020 by Willy1550

Even with some recent rains, the Burn Ban for Grimes County remains in effect.

At a recent meeting of Commissioner’s Court, Emergency Management Coordinator David Lilly discussed that the county has not seen all that much rain since the ban was enacted.

However, compared to recent years, people have followed the rules a bit more this time around.

“I have noticed there have not been a significant number of burn ban violation calls…it has been pretty steady. For the most part, it looks our citizen’s are complying with the burn ban this time around, and I applaud the public for that. They are taking note of that, and why we put it in place. But, for now, I think it is probably prudent for us to continue carrying it forward,” said Lilly.

A Burn Ban remains in effect for Grimes County until further notice.

The Commissioner’s Court has a special meeting called for this coming Wednesday, September 16th, where the action on the burn ban will be discussed.
