As we have mentioned, this Friday is Navasota City Manager Brad Stafford’s last day on the job.
You have heard him talk about it in the weeks leading up to now, but at Monday night’s City Council meeting, his last one, he gave a final few words to the city.
“I have worked for a number of city council members. Three of you have been here a long time, some who are not with us anymore. But, I have had a great experience, and staff…cannot say enough about those folks,” Stafford said.
“The citizen’s, too. Jim Hassell, I even love you, man,” said Stafford, as those in attendance laughed. “Only said that because your wife is sitting next to you.”
He added that, in his time here, they did a lot of good, and he feels good about the state of the city as he leaves.
“I have been very fortunate t have worked in three cities a long time…I feel we have accomplished a lot here in Navasota. And it is not a testament to me.It is a testament t us, all of us. The citizen’s, city council, staff…and I got to be part of it,” Stafford said.
“I just appreciate you.”
Stafford’s official last day is this Friday, but will act as the interim, as city council decides on the next official city manager.
A decision is expected by mid-November.
