City of Navasota awarded TXDOT grant to begin pedestrian improvements on Brosig Avenue

November 4, 2021 by Andre Perrard

The City of Navasota has been awarded a TXDOT Transportation Grant for improvements to one city street.

During a October 28th meeting, the Texas Transportation Commission approved more than $55 million dollars for 41 projects across the state for sidewalks, shared use paths, bike lanes, and pedestrian bridges.

The project for which Navasota received money was the pedestrian improvements on Brosig Avenue, which were part of much discussion in recent public hearings. The project will provide 6 foot sidewalks along Brosig from Highway 105 to FM 3090, and a new pedestrian bridge over Cedar Creek, which includes lighting.

Two other projects awarded the grant were in College Station, and Buffalo.

Included in the grant money, which totals $784,245, is the preliminary engineering, and construction costs.
